    Phosphoric acid aqueous solution (orthophosphoric acid) is a colourless, odourless, and non-volatile syrupy liquid. It is a major industrial chemical, being a component of many fertilizers. Food-grade phosphoric acid (additive E338) is used to acidify foods and beverages and also serves as a preservative. Important applcation is the production of phosphates for soaps and detergents.
