OCTOBER 2023
Investment
In the second quarter of 2023, selected countries experienced mixed growth rates in private investments relative to 2022, ranging from -1.45% in Switzerland to +2.21% in France. These results show that there is significant heterogeneity in the investment response to the tightening monetary policy measures by the ECB and the Federal Reserve across countries. Moreover, some investors might be hesitant in their investment decisions due to the uncertainty related to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which triggered global ripple effects through financial markets. Despite these uncertainties, the average growth in investments among OECD countries was 0.8% relative to the previous quarter and slightly above 2% relative to the previous year.
